Violet Moth Suncatcher Costume Fairy Wings **imperfect quality**
Please allow 2-3 weeks for me to package these as finding or making boxes for these monsters can be tedious!
** THESE ARE IMPERFECT QUALITY, although this is a finished project, and unlike my earrings of which I've made thousands at this point, these are some of the first few I have ever made and have a few mistakes. I am still learning and I have decreased the price from what I originally planned to sell these for. These specific wings have some surface and edge imperfections!**
Finally! I have prototyped and fussed over these costume wings for 5 whole years and they are finally no longer just a concept!
These suncatcher fairy wings are incredibly elegant and absolutely STUNNING in direct sunlight. With the rainbows and inky purple contrast, it is a perfect for a dark fairy look ππ
The suncatcher effect on these wings are incredibly bright and will cast rainbows onto your skin and hair. Rainbows need light to exist so they look the absolute best when backlit by direct sunlight but artificial lights can still bring out the rainbows! All my suncatcher wings have the ability to cast rainbows onto itβs surrounding but this requires direct intense sunlight and cannot be achieved with artificial light.
These wings include a wall hanger, which is a beautiful way of storing them when not being used. I have attached some pictures of what they look like hanging up!
My large costume wings have a 3d printed "U" that attaches all the wings together. This "U" slips into a corset/bodice or binder that helps hold the wings in place. I have modeled strap handles into the "U" that you could use to attach your own straps (I do not include straps at the moment) and wear it much like a backpack. I have recently changed this from being just a horse shoe shape to being more of a solid plate.
These wings are adjustable along the wire at the base of the fairy wings, you can prop them up to make you look like you are taking flight, down to look like you are resting, or back to go to the renaissance festival so you don't get hit by anyone! With all that being said, there is always a risk for over-bending as all metal can be work hardened and broken over time. BUT in all my years of working on fairy wings I've only managed to break one and it had very thin wire which should not be a problem with 9g steel. When you position the wings, please be sure to only grab them from the base and not the wings themselves!
Although these wings are still relatively light, they are still much heavier than most other fairy artists out there weighing in at 2 lbs 4 oz. When they are completely out to the side hey have a wing span of 57 inches. The top wing is just about 26 inches from base to tip and the bottom wings are 36 inches from base to the end of the tail!
These wings are very sturdy but keep in mind nothing is completely indestructible. I have dropped my own personal pair a couple times and they are doing good but I'd be weary of leaving the in hot temperatures. My Wings are made out of a couple different types of plastics and plastic do not like extreme heat. Please keep this in mind if you need to leave them in a hot car. if they do wilt in extreme temperatures they can be gently reheated and flattened out!
All my wings are hand made and hand painted which makes them incredibly colorful. With that being said, human error will always be a part of my art and I will never be able to avoid all mistakes like bubbles, scratches, lint, etc. Though if they are significantly flawed (I am picky) I will label them as imperfect and price them accordingly
