This was my first official fairy outfit I ever made for myself and was the project that got me to love making dresses. If you are an artist, you know how hard it is to make anything for yourself. There were many hurdles I needed to cross for me to be happy with this dress. For one, I am tall, have an incredibly long torso, and scoliosis; Something I have struggled with when sewing my own clothing. I don’t look good in short poofy dresses and that “pixie” look never looked good on me which made me feel out of place in the fairy industry. I ultimately decided to go with an elegant “elvish” vibe, drawing inspiration from Brian Froud, “The Dark Crystal”, and “The Lord Of The Rings” to create this otherworldly royal look. I want to change the fairy industry and give confidence to all the fairies out there with more dramatic and harder features. I’ve always said, “Not everyone is a Tinkerbell, some are Titania.”
